Fat balls (a mix of seeds and fat) contain a high energy nourishing mix and therefore are a great food to feed during the breeding season providing easy to find extra energy for both the fledglings and the parent birds alike. Fat balls will attract a large range of different species including tits, robins, finches, woodpeckers, siskins, nuthatches, sparrows, starlings and duncocks.
It is best to feed fat balls using a dedicated fat ball feeder, any netting on the fatballs should be removed so as not to potentially entangle the birds feet in the netting.
Fat balls weigh 90 grams.
